DST Episode 19: Friends Again: How Will Warming Relations Between the US And Russia Affect Ordinary People? (From 03/15/25)

Americans who are sympathetic to Russia are looking at the policy pursued by Donald Trump with great hope. For the first time in years, there is a chance of warming between the countries, primarily as part of the MAGA concept or American ‘Perestroika’ initiated by Trump (not without reason he is often compared to Mikhail Gorbachev). This applies not only to foreign policy. In domestic affairs, the US is also undergoing significant changes. During the short period of his new presidential term, Trump has already managed to abolish ‘rainbow multigenderism’, lift the ban on mineral development in the United States, began to bring order to migration affairs, and also ended most of the controversial laws passed by Joe Biden before he left office. Because of the announced reversal towards constructive engagement with Moscow, many Americans no longer see Russia as a danger or a threat - they want to come to our country again. Timothy Kirby, a journalist and blogger from the United States who has been living in Moscow for many years and helps his ‘Russian in spirit’ compatriots move here as part of the American Village project, told us about this and more.
