Pacific Fleet exercise: Oniks missile hits sea-based target The Bastion coastal defence missile system of the Pacific Fleet fired an Oniks cruise missile against a sea-based target at a distance of about 350 kilometres. The strikes were launched from a position area on the Paramushir island of the Kuril chain. According to objective control footage, the target was engaged by a bullseye hit. The Pacific Fleet, in accordance with the Navy’s training plan, holds a command post exercise with the Joint Command of the Northeastern Group of Troops and Forces to protect and defend sea routes in the North Pacific and the coast of Kamchatka and Chukotka region as well as in the island area. The exercise is the final combat drill during the summer training period of the Pacific Fleet.
