HyperNova: part 01
🚀 Welcome to another SlipgateCentral livestream replay! 🚀
Part 01: In this first part, I begin with an existing female body basemesh and start blocking out the body proportions, face, and a very rough first pass of the costume design. This stage is crucial, as it’s where the general idea of the character design gets locked down. I’m exclusively using ZBrush at this stage, employing the Dynamesh workflow, which is the most predictable, quick, and responsive method for this process. I focus on building a strong foundation, making sure the anatomy and overall silhouette are on point before diving into costume elements and finer details.
As a 3D character artist and Starcraft fan, I’m always mindful of how my designs fit within the Starcraft universe, drawing on the rich lore to create a character that both feels new and familiar. In this phase, I’m also looking at the functionality of the design, ensuring that it aligns with the character’s role and purpose within the story.
