Shakshouka (Arabic: شكشوكة; Hebrew: שקשוקה ) (also shakshuka) is a dish of eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, and onions, often spiced with cumin. It is believed to have a Tunisian origin. Shakshouka means “a mixture“ in Arabic slang.
