Luzmila Carpio – Ama Sua, Ama Llulla, Ama Kjella (Rahakissa Remix)
LUZMILA CARPIO –
AMA SUA, AMA LLULLA, AMA KJELLA
(RAHAKISSA REMIX)
This is an unofficial remix of a Bolivian folk song called ‘Ama Sua, Ama Llulla, Ama Kjella,’ composed by Luzmila Carpio during the 70s in defence of the Andean indigenous cultures. The name of the song refers to an Inca moral code and means ‘Don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t be lazy’.
The lyrics, sung in Quechua, reflect a strong faith in the future of her native language:
Waranqa wataq pasachun
Ama chinkachunchu
Keshwa parlayninchiq
Ch’uwallakakuchun
Which roughly translates to:
Even if thousand years go by
It won’t be lost
Our Quechua language
will remain as clear as water
Sampled from the album:
