German Longsword 101, Part 3: Parrying & Defense Fundamentals

INTRODUCING: discrete (Ochs, Pflug) v. continuous (Krumphau, Schielhau) parries & defenses, the benefits of continuous parries v. discrete (e.g. guessing attack coming from the wrong side), all while stress testing against simple randomization with Zornhau / Wrath Cuts coming either alternating or same side per the Frequens Motus drill and appropriate stepping. Cutting patterns: - Krumphau / Crooked Cut - Schielhau / Squinting Cut Leger / Guard positions: - Ochs / Ox (hands high point low -- shown less than ideal partially due to height difference) - Pflug / Plough (hands low point high) NEXT WEEK: PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER -- integrating attacks and defenses in the Frequens Motus framework...!!! @forteswordplay @IronGateExhibition
