Near-Miss at DCA: Delta Plane, Air Force Jet in Midair Scare
A Delta Air Lines Airbus A319 nearly collided midair with a T-38 Air Force jet near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) on Friday in a shocking “loss of separation” incident. The near-miss comes just months after a fatal January collision at the airport killed 67 people.
🛫 Delta Flight 2983, bound for Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), had just taken off when it received an onboard alert about a nearby aircraft. Air traffic controllers quickly issued corrective instructions, and the Delta flight crew followed collision avoidance protocols to maneuver the plane safely.
✈️ The four T-38 Air Force jets were on their way to perform a flyover at Arlington National Cemetery when the incident occurred.
📌 The FAA is investigating, while the NTSB is gathering information to determine the cause of the loss of separation.
