The band was founded by vocalist Axl Rose and guitarist Izzy Stradlin. It is one of the most successful rock bands of all time, having sold more than one hundred million records, is considered a global music icon and is part of the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band is also one of the most awarded, legacy and worldwide impacting artistic acts to date. Guns N’ Roses is also considered by many as one of the most influential bands in history due to their great musical legacy. Likewise, in 2011 they were ranked 21st in the list of “the 100 best artists in history“, elaborated by Rolling Stone magazine in conjunction with various producers and specialized music critics. The current line-up includes vocalist Axl Rose, rhythm guitarist Richard Fortus, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese, drummer Frank Ferrer, bassist Duff McKagan and lead guitarist Slash. The latter two are considered classic members of the group and after a 23-year absence, they resumed their place in the band. The band has sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, including more than 60 million albums in the United States alone,14 which ranks them 18th on the list of the best-selling and most successful artists of all time. Their 1987 debut studio album Appetite for Destruction has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide and reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the United States. In addition, four songs from the album entered the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Sweet Child o’ Mine“ stayed at number one. It is also the most successful and best-selling debut album in history and is ranked as the fourth best debut album ever, according to Rolling Stone magazine. Their 1988 album G N’ R Lies has sold more than 16 million copies worldwide and their song “Patience“ entered the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the album reached number two on the Billboard 200. The 1991 twin albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II rose to number 2 and 1 on the Billboard 200, respectively, staying for 108 weeks in those positions and nearly 308 in the top 10, the albums had a combined sales figure of over 55 million copies worldwide and 25 million copies sold in the United States alone,18 six of the singles from both albums reached the Billboard Hot 100 and four of them entered the Top 10 of the same chart. Their next release would be the 1993 cover album of punk and glam songs entitled The Spaghetti Incident? from which three singles were released, one of which entered the Billboard Hot 100 and two of which entered the greatest hits compilation; the album peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and number two on the UK Album Chart. During the period when the band was returning to the stage with new musicians two albums were released, a live one entitled Live Era: ’87-’93 in 1999 and another compilation called Greatest Hits in 2004; which, although the band was negative about the album’s release, was a huge commercial success (it has sold almost 8 million copies in the US alone and over 15 million copies worldwide); it reached number one on the UK Album Chart and three on the Billboard 200, it spent 138 weeks on the Billboard 200. After a decade of work and problems with ex-members in court, the band released their next studio album, Chinese Democracy, in 2008; they have released three singles, and one of them entered the Billboard Hot 100 and two on the Mainstream Rock Tracks, and the album reached number three on the Billboard 200 and number two on the UK Album Chart. In the late eighties and early nineties (1987 - 1993) the band was the most popular and successful group in the world, that led them to be one of the artistic numbers that dominated the music scene of the time, so the music industry considers that era as the period in which Guns N’ Roses “brought out a hedonistic rebelliousness and revived the transgressive punk attitude driven by hard rock, with references from the early albums of The Rolling Stones and Sex Pistols“. This earned them a reputation that gave them the nickname of “the most dangerous band on the planet“ due to their hedonistic, rebellious, transgressive and provocative attitudes, in addition to their multiple controversies“. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tags: #music #shorts #eeuu #usa #florida #UnitedStates #spotify #gunsnroses
