Mile Kolarov playing an ezgija on kaval (Macedonian end blown flute) - 1979
Mile Kolarov (a legendary kaval player from the village of Dračevo near Skopje, Macedonia) plays an ezgija (rubato improvisation) on kaval (a Macedonian end blown flute). This film, unearthed very recently by Chris Gunstone, was taken in 1979 in Sydney, Australia during a 2 month tour with the band ’Orkestar Grupa Pečalbari’ which also included Lazo Nikolovski - gaida, Chris Gunstone - tambura and Linsey Pollak - gaida. Mile was regarded as the best kaval player in Macedonia and played with the Radio Skopje Folk Ensemble as well as the National Dance Ensemble ’Tanec’.
