This is working up to an exercise that I call “Spider Pushups“ which is similar to Cat and Cow in Yoga. This is working on mobilising and strengthening the upper body, the spine and its connection to the ribcage, shoulders and arms. We are trying to use the expansion and contraction of the ribcage as well as stretching it backwards and forwards to power the pushup.
