Check out our online store! Time to delve back into the remote past and discuss a period of Russian history that is never really covered. Sure... world war 2 is fine and all, but this is where the real game of thrones was fought. Here I will be exploring just that- the long complicated list of succession during the Kievan Rus. I discuss important topics such as the principle of agnatic seniority, its difference with primogeniture, the izgoi principle, and 3 member generational limit for the title of Grand Prince of Kiev. I cover all this up until the sack of Kiev in 1240 by the Mongols... at least I hope I did. I don’t expect too much attention diverted to this topic as it is quite niche, but I hope it exposes people to the fascinating history of Kievan Rus. What with Iaroslav the wise, the feud with his great grandson Vsevolod Ol’govich, and joint rule under Viacheslav. These are way too many names to remember after all. Thus I’ve included a complementary family tree so that people can follow along. I hope you all enjoy.
