Titles read: “Dockyard Settlement!“
Isle of Dogs, London.
Various brief shots of people in the Docklands area of the Isle of Dogs. We see street scenes and residential areas.
Commentator says “It is in such surroundings as these that a chain of Dockland Settlements have been formed“. We see men relaxing in deckchairs in a garden while others do the gardening. M/S of a church steeple.
Great section with natural sound shows young couples dancing together in a hall or gymnasium. An audience watches and laughs at a show being performed on a stage - a pantomime bull (?) is seen acting out a scene with children - ’Carmen’? Nice shot of the audience applauding with natural sound (good mix of ages). Girls in gymslips do star jump exercises in the gym. Other girls in ridiculous costumes with bells on them (look like jesters) do a little dance. Young men in white trousers and t-shirts jump over a box in the gym - two men in clown costumes do a bit of silly business when it comes to their turn. Yo
