The duo soon started writing tunes and searching for band members. 2021 finally saw KTK’s complete lineup, having Saurabh Lodha on bass, Akarsh Singh on drums, and Pritam Adhikary on vocals. Dropping two singles that year, the Pune/Siliguri ensemble surged in the Indian metal scene, actively playing shows across the country. A bit down the road, Rahul Singh seized the role as the drummer. Kill The King’s self-titled full-length demonstrates the entire premise that the band revolves around (from the lyrics to the moniker): to stand up against any form of injustice or oppression. The “king” in KTK depicts oppressive forces in society. Lyrically, the songs on the album give voice to victims of oppression and those who fight back. Across nine searing thrash metal tracks, KTK takes a defiant stance against issues damaging to society, while encouraging resilience and resistance. In a country often muted by conformity, KTK is not afraid to unmask the controversial and uncomfortable truths. They fearlessly address hate and violence endured by minority groups, transgender and homosexual people. They expose manipulative leadership and societal injustice while delving into the corrosive influence of money. Addressing governance, deception, and inequality fervently, the band dares to delve into the misuse of culture for division and control, along with the relentless cycle of mistreatment, whether from family, systems, or those in power. This compelling journey also unveils a haunting portrayal of a nation’s downfall. Through unrelenting, fast-paced guitars, gut-wrenching drums, thumping bass lines, and powerful soaring vocals, this album serves as a call to rise against injustice and redefine our world.
