Toy Woollen Poodles Aka Poodle Story (1956)

Windmill Theatre, London. C/U of a gamine brunette showgirl sitting in a dressing room and putting the finishing touches to a white woollen poodle. She talks to someone out of shot and laughs. M/S of another showgirl wearing a black and white basque and fishnet tights; she is sitting on a bench in the dressing room and sewing a shocking pink woollen poodle. C/U of this girl as she bites through the wool to cut it. M/S of the girl doing this in the background, while in the foreground a super glamorous blonde is checking her finished red poodle. C/U of the first girl sewing intently. C/U of Jaqueline (Jackie) Joy putting a blue woollen poodle on the dressing table, where numerous others in different colours sit. She picks up a red one to examine as commentator tells us Jackie started the unusual knitting circle by making two poodles as birthday presents for her nieces. The idea spread among the girls until they ran out of children to make them for so they are now sent to hospitals. Jackie
