Aufnorden (Canada) - America Septentrionalis (Album 2024)

Finally, 4 months after premiering two tracks for this album the entirety of Aufnorden’s mighty second full-length is unveiled at last. Inspired by the harsh, wonderful lands of the Canadian far North, its imponent weather that shape men for survival, perseverance and unquenchable might, Aufnorden releases another brilliant piece of catchy Epic Black Metal, brimming with blood-pumping melodic hooks and romanticism spearheaded by the clear influence of 80’s Traditional Heavy Metal and Power Metal, here in much purer form on tracks like the opening and “Surrounded by Danger“, as well as Oi! music. The Pop-ish elements are not so present in this release like they were on “Return to Jötunheimr“ and previous releases, except on a couple of tracks like “Anti Modernist“ and the great acoustic rendition of the excellent “Eternal Frost“ track that was part of said album. There’s still space for some steps to be taken into Industrial and Post-Punk territories on “The Ice Age Blacksmith“ and “Cape Dorset“ tracks, respectively. Recorded in November 2023.
