This is the current world record time on This run was shortly into my de-rusting of the game and was propelled forward by god tier RNG on multiple skill checks. There is still room for large improvements by a more aggressive early game playstyle and cleaner dialogue tree pathing throughout the game. The routing is significantly different from the previous world record by taking a more straightforward but RNG dependent approach to progressing the story. This culminates in requiring back to back 1 in 36 dice rolls followed by a 1 in 12 roll to progress the game to the final day. There are still further ways to optimize the route but they come at the cost of increased RNG. Luckily most of the RNG would be in the early game and could be overcome by a very dedicated player. The run also features a fast travel from the roof of the hotel on the final day which was only possible in the later updates of the game. The run also features a faster way to progress dialogue by using both keyboard and mouse at the same time there is a constant down input from a controller. This makes the dialogue text scroll instantly to the top of the screen. I previously used a physical controller with a rubber band but I would run into issues as the down input would prevent the character from picking up items consistently. Instead, I used a virtual keyboard splitter to make the space bar input on keyboard mimic the down input on the controller so that the controller was only active during dialogue. To people interested in speed running this game, there are some good resources on the wiki as well as an excel spreadsheet of all the skill checks floating out there. There is also a discord for the community and tools for live split. As an FYI, I interact with 3 green bubbles on day 2 prior to going up to speak to Klaasje as my game would otherwise soft lock by not allowing any quick saves or loads or allowing me to progress to day 3 when I slept in the bed. The soft lock is triggered by ditching Kim at night and changing locations before his model disappears into his room. The time it takes interact with the 3 green bubbles line up well with the time needed for Kim to walk to his room.
