Selfish ambition3 Philippians 1:17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. As we examine Philippians chapter 1 we see the Apostle Paul again experiencing a very difficult time in his life as Paul had been imprisoned for preaching the gospel. It is important to understand that in this wicked and adulterous generation that we find ourselves in that oftentimes when you and I are trying to bring the best thing to people oftentimes we will receive the worst treatment from people. The Apostle Paul was bringing the Glorious Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the people of his day, and many of the rulers, many of the authorities, many of his countrymen, felt the best way to repay that was to imprison him. Very similar to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who came to the Earth to save sinners and the best that many of us could come up with in response to that great gift, that great sacrifice was to hang him
