One of the most curious cases of a worker living a dual life across the Canadian-U.S. border was Michel Lamarche. In Canada, Lamarche worked under the name Michel “Justice“ Dubois in his native Quebec as well as in the Maritimes. It was in the U.S. where Lamarche switched his moniker, gimmick, and nationality to Russian heel Alexis Smirnoff, working everywhere from Georgia to Northern California to Hawaii and all points in between. Lamarche returned home to Quebec around 1980-81, assuming his familiar Michel “Justice“ Dubois gimmick and worked for the upstart Varoussac Promotion as well as George Cannon’s Superstars of Wrestling. Here Dubois battles the indefatigable Gino Brito, who was embroiled in a bitter feud with The Intelligent, Sensational Destroyer. in fact, the Destroyer comes to ringside to observe the action.
