ANSYS Icepak: Computing Metal Fraction and Thermal Conductivity of a Trace
This video shows how to compute the average metal fraction values and lumped thermal conductivity data for an ECAD trace file in ANSYS Icepak. Using the calculated lumped thermal conductivity values new materials with orthotropic conductivity can be created in Icepak. A detailed PCB object can also be created using the average layer-by-layer metal fraction values thus significantly reducing computation time of running a brute-force simulation.
