📃 Оригинальное описание:
I wanted to continue this discussion on mindset shifts that helped me and others!
Consistency is a very commonly promoted aspect of fitness. Understandably so - it’s hard to get any kind of significant results without some type of consistency.
However, there’s some nuance here. Some people are consistent and they make great progress that seems almost unbelievable to their friends and family. People ask them how they did it and are blown away by the physical and mental changes.
Others are not always so successful (yet!). Some people are consistent and yet achieve relatively little results. What gives? Is it just genetics and steroids? Consistency is important, right? Lots of people from fitness influencers, personal trainers, exercise scientists, and more have all promoted this idea. It makes sense.
However, I discuss the idea that consistency is especially impactful WHEN you have a few of the following:
1.) A good routine
2.) A mindset of constant improvement through subtle improvements in technique
3.) A mindset of constant improvement through subtle adjustments in routine
Some coaches will tell you that you don’t need changes and that the way to make real progress is to double down on what works. I don’t necessarily disagree with them. However, I would say that these individuals usually are educated on good fitness principles and have good knowledge of their own body. Not everyone has this. Consistency with an elite routine designed by a world-class coach is amazing and allows you to progressively overload for years and decades. Consistency if you’re trying to grow your chest mostly through burpees... not as much. That’s one of the weaknesses of social media communication (as great as it can be sometimes). We’re not sure who we’re talking to, so sometimes the message isn’t quite as tailored.
Just sharing some thoughts! I hope this can help.
