VLOG| Gulping Hainanese chicken rice at its birthplace in Wenchang | Go! Hainan

For more: Singapore and Malaysia both claim to be the place of origin for Hainanese chicken rice, the smooth-skinned, sweet, firm-fleshed dish served with broth-boiled rice. But, if Hainanese chicken rice didn’t originate from Hainan, why does it have that name? I arrived in Wenchang, the birthplace of Hainanese chicken rice, to try and track down the most authentic Wenchang chicken.
