After haggling with the butcher, we saved him for $63

We are a group of Australians working in international sports services, and we travel to Asian countries almost every month. During our talk with Chinese friends about food, we found that dog meat is now widespread in China and other Asian countries. As pet owners, we were shocked and deeply saddened. We learned that these dogs endure horrific conditions before being slaughtered. They are crammed into tiny cages, deprived of food and water for days, and many are slaughtered while sick. Determined to take action, we decided to start a charity called MatePet. Our mission is to spread awareness about the dog meat trade and raise funds to save these innocent have now set up two rescue centres in China and have rescued a cumulative total of 1,112 dogs from the dog meat market.
