Sebastian Faulks’s masterpiece Birdsong will be released online in a brand new specially made production on 1 July 2020.
This exclusive release marks the 104th year since the Battle of The Somme which began on 1st July 1916 and will be raising money for The Royal British Legion.
Birdsong was produced on stage between 2013 and 2018 and seen by over 250,000 people around the UK and Ireland. The production has now been re imagined, produced and filmed under lockdown conditions reuniting the original casts and creative teams in one of the most ambitious online events since live entertainment venues were forced to close due to Covid-19.
Featuring narration written and read especially for this version by Sebastian Faulks, and freshly adapted by Rachel Wagstaff. Birdsong is an epic story of war and romance spanning 9 tumultuous years from 1910-1918. The story takes you into the heart of the Western Front and 60 feet below no mans land into the tunnels where some of the fiercest combat took place out of sight, but rarely out of mind.
Birdsong Online will have a limited release from 7pm on 1 July and will be available for 72 hours.
