Parasomnia (2024) Parasomnia is the world of paradoxical dreams. A universe where the soul is torned between sleep and wakefulness, between visions and reality. Relying on this idea, born from a period of successive lockdowns, Qilin wrote this new album, resolutely contemplative and conducive to escape. The journey begins with Ouro, who gradually draws the listener into the murky waters of dreams and serves as a guide to the Letheus River (Lethean Dreams), a passage between the real world and dreams. This dreamlike beginning gives way to parasomnia, a disruptive element of sleep. The river rushes and the traveler embarks on a nightmarish ballad with tumultuous riffs. This introspective journey is punctuated by psychedelic surges and dives into the abyss of consciousness. The listener is conveyed into underworlds full of fantastic creatures (Tayir Alfiniq, On Migoi’s Trail) and linked together by cave-bridges (Innervision). Symbol of a brief passage between life and death, between the world of the living and Tartarus, this world of dreams is guarded by the Hecatonchires (Hundred-Handed Wards) upon whom our traveler comes across. The album ends with an escape from this nightmare, with him slowly awakening from dreams transforming into reality (Boros). - Qilin is an #instrumental #psych #stoner_doom quartet that quickly made a name for itself on the French stoner scene by instilling a harmonious, rich and heavy mix of genres through the sheer force of their instruments.
