Visual acuity test with Snellen eye chart examination for nursing students. This eye examination checks cranial nerve II, which is the optic nerve. You’ll want the patient to stand approximately 20 feet from the Snellen chart. You’ll also want them to wear any glasses or contact lenses during this eye examination. Then tell the patient to read a line that is visible to them. The results are based on what line the patient can read with ease.
