Here’s another item from the 50’s. This is a player that plays an obsolete tape cartridge. RCA designed this cartridge but failed to follow through with support & licensing. It’s a format that SHOULD have caught on and, in fact, did in a reincarnation as a compact cassette. This particular player is an early “bare bones“ player that records & plays monophonically ONLY. This would have been a great recorder for someone who didn’t want to fuss with an R2R tape recorder - a great concept that failed. The TRUE “audiophile“ didn’t want much to do with this format but the average Joe should have loved the ease of playing & recording with this format.
