Wow Filly: 3-Year-Old Enola Gray Romps By 16 In Debut, Nearly Sets Track Record
Santa Anita’s meet-leading trainer Phil D’Amato debuted 3-year-old filly Enola Gray to a crushing 16 ¼-length victory in Sunday’s seventh race, nearly eclipsing the track record for 6 ½ furlongs under a hand ride from Tyler Baze.
“I didn’t know much about her,” said Baze after the race. “I worked her once last week and it wasn’t nothing special because her race was five days later.”
That work was over five furlongs at Santa Anita in 1:, earning the standard “handily” designation from the clockers.
