Exclusive: Nepali POW questioned by Ukrainian authorities

The Kyiv Independent has obtained footage of Ukrainian authorities questioning a Nepali prisoner of war captured when he was fighting for Russia in Ukraine. The footage was obtained from intelligence sources. The Kyiv Independent edited it for brevity. Russia has reportedly recruited thousands of Nepali men to fight in its war against Ukraine. Media reports suggest that Russians have recruited people from other countries of Asia, Africa, and Middle East, often targeting poor and embattled countries, and luring fighters with a promise of high wages. At least 14 Nepalese citizens were killed when fighting for Russia in Ukraine, according to the Nepalese government, while some ended up in Ukraine’s captivity.
