Orangemen Demonstrate - or possibly the Irish National Foresters and Ulster Volunteers (uniforms similar). 1912. Northern Ireland. Orangemen march through streets of Belfast. They are followed by women and young girls in white dresses with dark capes. Civilians follow. Line of men sitting on horseback in street. Arrival of some personality. Procession continues. Orangemen march into park (Ulster volunteers in Ulster?) Large demonstration held in park or at stadium (major racetrack type stands full of people listening to speakers). Then men looking through telescopes at British warships off shore of Ireland. Another rally: shots from high above large crowd in park; surrounding a platform where speakers sit in a row. CU man making speech. This footage is thought to be of Sir Edward Carson at ’Ulster Day’ in 1912, when the Ulster Covenant was signed. Protestants; Unionists; Political demonstrations; parades.
