The Little Blue Macaw (Cyanopsitta spixii) is one of the world’s most endangered birds. In 2000, the last wild specimen disappeared from its endemic region, near Curaçá - Bahia, Brazil. The direct causes of population’s decline was the international trafficking of animals and the destruction of its environment. The only survivors, nearly 100, continue in captivity and mostly outside of Brazil.
