A launch vehicle launched the second Arktika-M meteorological satellite (Арктика-М №2, Arktika-M No.2) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, on 16 December 2023, at 09:17:48 UTC (14:17:48 local time). Arktika-M was developed by NPO Lavochkin (part of Roscosmos) for climate and environment monitoring in the Arctic region. According to Roscosmos, Arktika-M is “intended for information support and solving tasks in operational meteorology, hydrology, agrometeorology, climate and environmental monitoring in the Arctic region.”
