Greek activists demand govt mends ties with Russia

Protesters in Greece have demanded that the government restores relations with Russia and stops sponsoring Kiev. Those attending the rally just outside Athens, held placards reading, among other things, ‘Zelensky is a robber,’ ‘Greece needs Russian tourists,’ and ‘No to support for NATO! Yes – support for the Greek economy!!!’ Anger is bubbling in Greece not only due to the catastrophic ongoing wildfires, but also because the Greek government actively supports EU sanctions against Russia, which has led to a sharp decline in tourist numbers, and the economy taking a hit as a result.
