Yuki has been building his FD for over a decade now. What started off as a street car powered by a wildly engineered 4 rotor engine, slowly evolved into the dedicated circuit car we get to experience today.
The heart of the RX-7 lies in the Scoot Sports built, peripheral ported 26B motor. Scoot employed the use of new RX-8 rotor housings paired with a custom made eccentric shaft coming from a company in Australia. Scoot made a one-off intake manifold by using TODA Racing AP1 individual throttles, a custom exhaust manifold, and side exit stainless exhaust. Fuel is delivered via 3 separate Bosch fuel pumps and 8 SARD injectors; 4 600cc primaries, and 4 800cc secondaries. The whole setup is tuned to make an incredible 600 naturally aspirated ps and revs to an ear bleeding 9,500 RPM.
Perfectly matched to the bespoke engine choice is the exterior of the FD. The SPL version of the Y’s Produce widebody coated in white gives the car one of the most unique looks in the paddock. Designed by Yuki, the Y’s Produce kit has been available to order, however does not feature the cut doors like on the race version. The overall package is impressive and given some more development time has the potential to hold its own with the current naturally aspirated rotary leaders, Ikeda and Iiri.
