One of Bhutan’s most picturesque long-distance hikes is the Laya Gasa Trek. The journey offers breathtaking vistas of some of Bhutan’s most pure and unspoiled scenery as it follows the Tibetan border. With breathtaking views of Mount Jomolhari, Jichu Drake, and Tsherim Gang, the trek starts in Sarna Zampa in Paro and leads through tranquil alpine meadows and high mountain passes. The walk will pass via Laya, an isolated semi-nomadic community. You will have the opportunity to experience the distinctive customs and culture of the native Layaps. Along the trek, you will also come across a pristine waterfall in Lingzhi, a few settlements, yaks, Rheum Nobile, and wild animals (Takins and blue sheep). You descend from Laya to Gasa, where you can renew with a day of rest in the hot spring.
The best month to embark on this trek: March-May, Sept- November
However, we can also do this trek in July.
