Where do you get the best ideas? For some of us it’s in the shower, for others it’s the wee of the night. Noa Segal, our legendary drummer, was inspired to write Black Panthers while watching TV.
As she tells the story
Of the fifth track of our new album, BAM:
“I decided to write something new for the band that day, but then I got lazy... I was looking for something to watch, and came across a documentary about Nina Simon which talked a lot about the Black Panthers in the US, and I was suddenly inspired! It was very nice, because out of my laziness suddenly came this piece.
Around that time Yaron Ouzana joined the orchestra and brought a new spirit, motivation and a desire to work on new music, and as we got closer and I discovered what a special and sweet person he is. He asked me if I had anything to work on, and we sat together, me alternating between bass and drums and him playing trombone, trying different things, and the arrangement started to take shape.
