Bolero is a song genre that originated in eastern Cuba in the late 19th century as a form of romantic folk poetry in Santiago de Cuba. Thanks to the Trio Matamoro , and later the Mexican Trio Los Pancho, Bolero gained wide popularity.
Sometimes Bolero compositions were combined with other forms, creating new subgenres, such as Bolero-Son, popular in the 1930s and 1940s, and Bolero-Cha, popular in the 1950s. In the United States, the rumba ballroom dance emerged as an adaptation of the Bolero Dream in the 1930s. Most often, Boleros are played on Conga drums, but in small acoustic projects, Bongs can be used.
