Hugh McDonald’s bassline from the Bon Jovi’s ’Livin’ on a Prayer’

You can SUBSCRIBE to my video courses here: This video is a play-through of Hugh McDonald’s bassline from ’Livin’ on a Prayer’, the 1986 hit song from Bon Jovi. This song has a fantastic, melodic bassline and is an education in crafting the perfect part for the song. I recorded this line using a Fender Custom Shop ’67 Precision bass strung with Rotosound strings. The tone control was rolled off slightly. The bass was recorded via a SansAmp Bass Driver DI, all controls set flat. A small amount of compression was added digitally.
