On the rest day, the participants played Hand & Brain, an unusual variant of chess in pair in which one of the participants names the piece he wants to see played while the other one chooses which move to make with it. In the first game, the Mamedyarov and Nepomniachtchi pair faced off against Dubov and Svidler, while Judit Polgar and Ilya Levitov provided commentary.
