Putin: Unlike our Western opponents, Russia does not perceive Western civilisation as an enemy and does not pose the question ‘us or them? I repeat once again: ‘whoever is not with us is against us’. We never say that. We do not want to teach anyone anything, to impose our worldview on anyone. Our position is open, and it is as follows: The West has accumulated, indeed, a huge human, intellectual, cultural, material resource, thanks to which it can successfully develop, remaining one of the most important elements of the world system. But exactly one of them, on a par with other actively developing states and groups of countries. Hegemony in the new international environment is out of the question. And when, say, Washington and other Western capitals comprehend and recognise this irrefutable and immutable fact, the process of building a world system that meets the challenges of the future will finally enter the phase of genuine creation.
