Hydatid Cyst of Human Brain

The Hydatid cyst in the video weighed approximately 300gms and had a diameter of 9 cms . It was removed from the left parietal lobe of a 13 year boy,an inhabitant of Chattisgarh( India). It was removed using the Dowling technique(A pressurized water jet is used to seperate the paper thin cyst wall from the surrounding tissue). It was removed in toto. The cyst was that of an echinococcus granulosus(dog tapeworm). The patient showed immediate signs of improvement and was fit to be discharged within a week. The surgery was performed by Dr PV RAMANA and team at PINNACLE HOSPITAL ,VISAKHAPATNAM
