With a talented team of videographers, producers and designers. The whole persona behind the music is as important as the music itself in a lot of respects and that takes much more than just the music to represent Haunted Mound. If you look at the instagram of any of the members you’ll see a few tropes: Haunted mound merch, new rocks shoes, weapons of all kinds and True religion denim. All of these deliberately grainy images characterizing the look are a huge part of the whole haunted mound operation - with the merch being a particular highlight. This merchandise and design can be attributed to one member of haunted mound who you might not be familiar with - JJ Valhalla. In the haunted mound guide on their subreddit you’ll see that JJ holds two positions that no other member is specifically credited with, being the clothing designer and artist for the group. Working alongside sematary from as early as 2020, and officially joining haunted mound in march of 2021, JJ was heavily involved in the merch that comes from the group, which is a staple of the group recognised by any fans, but you might notice that he is listed as a former member of haunted mound alongside Ghost Mountain as the only two members in this category. The listed reason for his leaving is that “Valhalla was removed from the group following leaks of texts from him that disparaged Sematary.” - but much like Ghost Mountains exit from the group, there may be more to this situation than we are aware. The texts in question were posted to reddit with the caption “some messages that Owen guy sent me earlier between him and jj. These messages are pretty damning towards Sematary, with accusations of ableism implied because of the fact that JJ is autistic - apparently causing strife between him and Sematary as a result - an accusation that from the outside we can’t comment on since we don’t know the full story. The response from the subreddit was understandably one of concern, with one commenter rightly saying “You clearly dont gaf abt JJ’s well-being by airing this out” with more commenters weighing in on the situation. But who even is Owen? Owen is, after this incident, a well known detractor to Haunted Mound, but it hasn’t always been this way. In fact the music video for Buckshots “Haunted Hayride” was actually filmed on Owens land, so he seems to be somebody that is at least around Haunted Mound as a collective. But Owen clearly isn’t a fan of Sematary or Haunted Mound, possibly leaking these texts just to get back at them without regard for how it will affect JJ’s standing as the groups merchandise designer and primary artist. Owen seemed remorseful for this which he addresses in a lengthy, now deleted post in the Haunted Mound subreddit. While this feels like retrospective damage control for Owens personal relationship with JJ, he levies some pretty heavy accusations of abuse against Sematary, claiming that the way JJ was treated constituted an abusive relationship, as well as claiming Sematary was jealous of JJ’s personal success. Owen might not just be an innocuous person associated with Haunted Mound however, as he has managed to entirely and irreparably destroy his own reputation especially within the haunted mound community. In fact his first major infraction came when Sematary DM’d Owen about his association with the 1Team - a controversial content creation group who associate heavily with the infamous and incredibly controversial Sam Hyde. Sematary told Owen that he wouldn’t have ever associated with him if he knew his affiliation to the 1Team, but Owen doctored the screenshot in order to make it look as if Sematary was using the F slur. This screenshot has been clarified since showing that he actually called them dsuckers. Owen wasn’t happy with just levying false accusations against Sematary however, as he decided to advertise that he was selling “Harold Chains” on his story - a chain
