Chotoku Kyan learned this kata from Kokan Oyadomari a famous Tomari-te Karate teacher. Passai is one of the most popular kata of Okinawan Karate with many different versions. This Tomari-te version retains many open hand techniques compared to its popular counterpart the Tawada Passai.
