Khobayi is one of the most popular rhythms in the Arabian Peninsula and it comes from the Hijaz area of Saudi Arabia.
Khobayti music was originally used for zar spirit rituals where attendees would experience “istinzal“ (spirit possession).
The common percussion section of the khobayti consists up to 4 frame drums of different sizes, a zir and a derbuka.
