Jorge “El Niño“ Alfonso is one of the pioneers on the Congas. Without El Niño, our idols or percussion heroes will probably not exist today. It is said that he was the 1st Conga player in Cuba to use 5 congas in a band. Congas back then! It’s amazing how influential and creative El Niño was. Unfortunately, he had a tragic passing that cut his life short but thankfully we can still listen and learn from his amazing talent and artistry on the congas.
