China bites back: EU brandy imports hit as trade tensions escalate over EV tariffs
Beijing imposed anti-dumping measures on EU brandy imports, affecting brands like Hennessy and Remy Martin. This follows the bloc’s decision to impose tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.
A government investigation has preliminarily determined that dumping of brandy from the EU is threatening China’s brandy sector with “substantial damage,” the Chinese commerce ministry said.
Officials added that it was considering a hike in tariffs on imports of large-engine vehicles, which would deliver a hard hit to Germany’s carmakers.
