China Launches World’s First Quantum Satellite

China has successfully launched the world’s first quantum satellite using a Long March-2D (Chang Zheng-2D) launch vehicle from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China’s Gobi Desert at 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday. Named the Quantum Experiments at Space Scale (QUESS), the satellite is designed to establish ultra-secure quantum communications by transmitting quantum keys from space to Earth. It can also conduct experiments on phenomena’s found in quantum theories, such as entanglement. The 600-pl
