Airedales Molly & Grenson ’share’ a bone... May 2016

First Grenson has the bone and Molly tries to steal it from him... Then Molly has the bone and it is Grenson’s turn to covet it. It is only a small chunk of bone, but I love the varied tactics employed by each of them as they try to take it from the other. Molly (11.5) is gentle, but persistent - building up to boisterous, whilst Grenson (9 months) resorts to a combination of clowning around, stirring, diversion tactics, persistent patience and - his forte - annoyance to the point of despair!! But beneath it all, he knows who is the true boss, and although she is a gentle giant who never hurt a fly, she capitalises on this, toying with him and daring him to challenge her. Funny - there is no food aggression between them - they happily switch dishes at dinner time and never fight about food - but here Molly’s hard-fought gain (combined with a bitey-face game) was not something she was going to give up easily!
