ROM stands for Read-Only Memory. It is a type of computer memory that is used to store permanent or semi-permanent data that cannot be easily modified or deleted by the user.
ROM chips are used in computers, smartphones, and other electronic devices to store firmware, which is the software that is permanently programmed into the device’s memory. Firmware includes the low-level software that controls the device’s hardware components and interfaces with the operating system.
Unlike Random Access Memory (RAM), which is volatile memory that can be read from and written to by the user, ROM is a non-volatile memory that can only be read from, but not written to, by the user. This means that the data stored in ROM is persistent and will remain even when the device is turned off.
