As the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with China 70 years ago, Norway has always valued relations with China, friendship and cooperation being the defining features. Now with China granting Norwegian citizens 15-day visa-free access, a deepening partnership between the two countries is to be expected, with significant implications for bilateral relations and global engagement, from climate change and biodiversity protection to peace and development. Commenting on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s global initiatives, Støre remarked that they are “worth studying“ and looked forward to seeing more contributions from China.
