Cahit Oben founded the band “Sailors“ with his friend Fikret Kızılok in the early 1960s. It was then that they began their amateur music works.
A little later, with the goal of acting more professionally, they decided to dissolve “Sailors”. Instead, they founded the band “Cahit Oben 4” in 1962, later to be renamed “Cahit Oben 4’lüsü“. They started out with Cahit Oben on solo guitar, Fikret Kızılok on rhythm guitar, Koray Aydın on bass guitar and Erol Ulaş on drums.
Their first record in 1965 consisted of two songs, named “I Wanna Be Your Man“ and “36 24 36“. After that, they put forth a new record with the songs “Silifke’nin Yoğurdu“, an anonymous folk song, and “Hereke“ composed by Fikret Kızılok. This is also Fikret Kızılok’s first record.
